Brotteaux

I went over to a restaurant in Brotteaux yesterday for a farewell dinner with my german friend.

Art Auction house in Brotteaux. I think Brotteaux is the rich man's quartier in Lyon.

We crept into the Art auction house and I witnessed a real life art auction (in french)! It was really fast with thousands of dollars and bids rushing in. I even witnessed a picture going for 26,000 euros. And these auctions go really fast. "1600 euros... 1600 euros..." Bang, allez, hop! Next!

The interior of the restaurant.

Ok, like all French restaurants, the food was fantastic.

Entrée

Plat Principal- Beef done a point (medium Rare). It was practically bloody, my mistake. In france, medium rare = rare. Always order one level up. There is a joke that if you order rare here, the waiter will bring you a live cow.

From these 2 dishes, the thing that made it so tasty was the sauce (which is what lyon is famous for - good sauces). I still can't figure out how they made it.

Fromage Blanc. This one tasted really bad; too bland for me. Then again I am not a cheese fan, even after 6 months here.

My choice of dessert: Chocolate cake. My friend took the crème brûlée, which I should have taken because it was yummy.
