fait divers

One thing I find very amusing is that the french really love to curse. I was watching a soccer match in Roanne, and they were cursing every single minute. And when they ran out of french words to curse, they started to curse in english. HAHAHAHa.

anti-sarkomania!! I found this magazine cover really funny. It's not everyday and in every country that you can find the president's picture and a vulgarity splurged across his picture.

They even have a Sarko-game on the radio station I listen to every night, where listeners are posed absurb questions about the president, like who is the sister of the president. SOOOOOOO LAMEEEEEEEEE.

I was listening to french news a few days ago and was also very surprised with how the journalists report manifestations (strikes) with so much neutrality, and giving so much airtime to the opinion of the strikers instead of the gov. You don't get that in sg.

I was reading a report on Paris Match (a magazine that someone left on the train) about May 1968 in France. It was when a crazy series of protests that almost led to the collapse of the French gov and led to the breakaway of the conservative way the country was ran. The protesters were mostly university students carrying black and red flags, and girls wearing short skirts to protest for liberte sexuelle.

There were also students carrying vietnam flags protesting against the Vietnam war. One of the girls interviewed said that at the time of the protests, her dad stopped talking to her after seeing her carrying the Vietnam flag on Paris Match '68.

Erm, also on Paris match- an article on Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt. eeeeeks. Jean was saying "A diner de gala, j'ai vu michelle et j'ai pense: c'est elle" (A gala dinner, I saw michelle and i thought, it's her). how french.
