I'm tired of studying, so I'll blog a little about random stuff that went on last week. Pictures were taken using my lousy camera, so they're a little blurry.
Thursday: went to Oscar's place for a Taiwanese party. It was fantastic, with lots of taiwanese food (which is very very similar to sg food, since we are all decedents from the same area in china).

Me, Oscar's Korean-chinese friend (wearing a girl's dress), and Oscar (wearing the typical Taiwanese uncle outfit, complete with flipflops and white singlet)
Friday: went cycling with Kane and Heqi to see this little island (Ile Barbe) in the middle of the Saone river.
We saw Colourful Lion and Bear Statues around Vieux Lyon. Apparently there is a Quebec-Lyon event going on now, so the Bears represent Quebec while the Lions are Lyon's mascot. Lyon Lion Lyon Lion, get it?
My dumb hair. Tried to be jap.

View from The little island. It was an incredibly long bicycle ride (we borrowed the Velov).

We went to play at the playground in the little island. There was honestly nothing much there, but the cycling was good exercise. Plus, I went for a jog that morning.
A french guy we met who cycled with us to the ile, Heqi, and me.
Playing in the playground.

We had lapin for dinner in school. (rabbit). Imagine how many poor rabbits thighs were eaten by us.

Friday night, the first series of 24h concerts. The music was mostly folk-ish. I stayed till the end of the concerts (went back at 2am). It's fantastic to live in campus because the concert venue was just 50m away from my block, so I could easily walk home. Very good when I needed to pee too.
Saturday

Went walking around to see what was going on. There was a 24hour cycling event, some tents selling overpriced food, and other free concerts and games. This is the sumo wrestling game where 2 people wear big sumo suits (which must be filled with dried sweat from other players) and try to knock each other down.
Also found vomit on my stairs. Lifts were not working too, so I had to climb 4 stories to my room. Thank goodness I don't stay on the 6th floor.

Bike stunts.

I went over to my german friend's house to learn how to cook chili con carne, which I will attempt to cook for my sg friends when i get back. :D

Yummm. I felt a little left out during the dinner though, coz all of them were speaking in German. However, there was a nice french girl (who lives in berlin) who came over to talk to me when she saw that I understood nothing that was going on.
Yangfang, Fengxue, Me, Kane. Taken before we went for the concert on Sat.
Sunday:
Went to see an improvisation game, and could not understand most of what the french jokes. It was a competition when the judge would give a word and both teams would have to act it in a comical manner. Something like "whose line is it anyway?". Cool stuff, pity I didn't get it.
There were fireworks at night.
People playing with fire before the fire works.
The fireworks were AWESOME. THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN, and this was the closest I have ever been to the fireworks. They were exploding almost right above our heads, and it wasn't as crowded as the firework fest in Esplanade.
Fireworks in campus; how cool can it get? And it wasn't like "pop".... "pop"...
There were lots of fireworks! (more than the nus grad one)
By the end of the fireworks, everyone left with a smile on their face.
