Geneva!

We reached Geneva on Sunday night, and set out on our journey on monday morning. We were once again back on french-speaking territory (thank goodness!). Lucerne was strictly German speaking, and the people there couldn't really speak english. We had problems asking for directions because my german is practically a joke. I only know how to ask questions in German.

One of the attractions of Geneva is the UN building. Pictures from UN:

Outside the UN

I could not find the SG flag here.

The only way to get into the UN area is with a guide. So we paid some money and got a guide.:)

One of the conference rooms.

Another conference room.

View of the newer extension of the UN compound.

After UN, we took a bus over to the famous Jet D'eau. The great thing about our stay in swiss is that the hostels in Lausanne and Geneva gave us a transport pass, so we could travel within the city FREE!!! WOOO!

Then again, most countries in Europe functions on a system of trust; when you take a bus or a train, there will be no gantries, and the country trusts you to pay for your fare.

Anyway, Jet d'eau:

At parc Anglais:

The world's biggest clock (I think)

I love Geneva because the city has a mix of old and new buildings. After walking around the city, we went over to the older neighbourhood in Geneva.

People enjoying afternoon tea.

Alley.

Derryn and I decided to play in the playground.

Park with HUGE chess pieces. You have to carry these huge chess pieces to move them.

Derryn and I with the checkers.

I stepped on a weighing scale for the first time in 2 months today and I screamed. I put on 4kg in 2 months, no thanks to french food. Yea, eating potatoes, cheese, wine, chocolates and yoghurt everyday is NOT GOOD for your weighing scale.
