I had my first tutorial today. Tutorials are 2 hours here, but somehow the 2 hours just flew past so quickly. I prefer the tutorials here, where the teacher throws you questions to solve on the spot.
It was quite fun and challenging calculating the FCC,BCC and HCC stuff initially, but got too tiring later on because my brain was getting too tired of translating and trying to understand what the teacher said. But it helps that I've learnt all this material science stuff last sem. :D
I kept stumbling across words. Things like FCC, they call it CFC(cubique faces centrees) here. BCC is CC (cubique centre) or PC(Pseudo compacte). Radius is rayon, and Acier is the iron + carbon thingy. Iron is also called Fer. Ferrite and Austenite are still the same, but pronounced differently. 1 unit is called 1 maille.
SEE how different it is!!! *faints* I think i'm gonna die trying to write how austenite becomes martensite when quenched rapidly. Good thing the module is open book.
The teacher must have thought I was stupid because I had so much problems answering simple questions. He was asking me the size of the corner atom for PC and I didn't know how to say "1/8" in french.
