Girls in my class: me, alejandra, gina, taiane, my teacher aurelie and wangyi.
Cheese. I hate to say this, but I am not a fan of cheese. I tried to appreciate them but I really can't. It either smells of vomit or taste like vomit or both. There were some that were easier on the tongue and nose but I couldn't appreciate most of them. Especially blue cheese.
White wine with I-dunon-what. We also tried pastis, an alcoholic drink you drink before meals. Tasted yucky.
Bread. I'm also not very crazy about the bread here. The only bread I find worth eating is crossants, which are nice and crispy here. Guess I'm not a bread person either.
Since it was Gina's birthday (the day before), the teacher made an apple cake for her, with special candles that relight even after blown. It was hilarious watching her try to blow off the candles, only to see them relight. Wonder how they work.
Seb the colombian looking sad after his attempt to crack a nut failed. I only found out he has blue eyes after seeing this photo.
After lunch, we had class in her house which consisted of a sing-along session. Ben and Roberto the mexican slept through it. Their siesta.
And after singalong session, we cooked a lyonnais dish using a recipe written in french. Yup, it was a lesson because we were learning about quantities through this cooking session.
Ingredients.
Me and Wangyi grinding the mixture of chicken liver, parsley, eggs, blablabla. Dish is called "gâteau de foie" which means cake of liver. Tres lyonnais.
Tomato Sauce with lots of stuff in it.
The little pots of Foie being steamed and later baked.
The meal, served with the tomato sauce and white rice. YES, WHITE-RICE. The white rice was REALLY REALLY REALLY good. It's the best white rice I've eaten in my two weeks here. Can you imagine? I've only been here for 2 weeks and I miss white rice so much. You have no idea how happy I was. woooohoo!!!!
When I go back to SG I think i'm not gonna touch steamed potatos for one month man.
After dinner, 1/3 of the class went back to school while the rest of us went up to Fourvierre.
The long ascend up by stairs. This is half the journey.
The other half. It wasn't easy climbing up. We were so dead tired, practically crawling up on fours. I'm surprise my legs didn't get cramps the next day. Guess they're used to all the walking in Lyon.
We missed the sunset but were in time to catch the last glimpse of light give way to the dark of the night.
The "effiel tower" of lyon.
Fourvière at sundown
View of Lyon at night. A bit blur. We could see the two rivers from here, as well as Parc de la Tete d'Or. It was quite nice just standing there and watching the blinking lights below and freezing to death. The place was very empty coz it was a weekday night, so it was very quiet.
The enterance. If you look carefully enough, you can spot me in the picture.
At night.
The inside of the cathedral, which is also blurry. Like in St Jean, I didn't use flash inside the cathedral out of respect for the people praying there.
Ceiling.
Statue of Mary surrounded by saints ( i think).
Statue of Jesus and Mary.
The side of the cathedral.
After Fourvière, we made our way to the Roman Theatre nearby. I have no pics on that because it was too dark to take pictures.
Ok c'est tout. Will be going to Avignon and Nimes this weekend. stay tuned!
